Cloud Ten / AI ad creative

AI ad creative, with a reason behind it.

AI makes ads fast and cheap. That makes knowing what to make, and whether it made money, the whole job.

AI ad creative is advertising made partly or wholly with generative AI: images, video, AI presenters, voiceover and copy. It makes variants cheap and fast. It does not tell you which message to make, so the brief and the measurement matter more than ever.

Volume is cheap now. Knowing what to make is not.

Two years ago a new video concept took a shoot. Now it takes an afternoon. Every brand can produce fifty variants a week, which means every feed is full of them.

When production stops being the bottleneck, two things become scarce: knowing which message to make, and knowing which ads actually made money. We solve the first with days-in-market evidence from competitor ads, and the second by judging every ad on profit. AI sits in the middle, doing the making.

Our AI creative pipeline

  1. Brief from evidence. We start from the competitor ads that have stayed live longest, and name the mechanism, the claim and the proof. See what makes ad creative work.
  2. Storyboard. Scene by scene: the hook, the shot, the line, the on-screen text.
  3. Scene stills. Generated frames for each scene, anchored to real product photography so the product looks like the product.
  4. Animation. Stills animated with a video model such as Seedance, including AI presenters with lip-synced dialogue.
  5. Voiceover. Recorded or generated per scene, so a line can change without regenerating the whole film.
  6. Edit. Cut, captioned and exported for each placement.
  7. Test. Live on Meta and TikTok against other mechanisms, then judged on profit with the POAS calculator.

What AI is good at

  • Static variants. New backgrounds, layouts and sizes for a message that already works.
  • Hook variants. Ten opening lines or first frames on the same body, so you find the one that stops the scroll.
  • B-roll and scenes that would be expensive or impossible to film.
  • Storyboards that show a client the ad before anyone spends on production.
  • Localisation. New voiceover and captions for other markets.
  • Fast iteration. Changing one line or one scene in hours, not weeks.

Where it still fails

  • Product fidelity. Labels, logos and packaging drift. If the product in the ad is not the product in the box, that is a problem with trust and with the rules.
  • Hands and text. Generated hands holding products and generated on-screen text still break. Add text in the edit.
  • The plastic look. Too-perfect skin, light and camera. Viewers spot it and scroll.
  • Made-up claims. A model will happily write a statistic or a result you cannot substantiate.
  • Sameness. When everyone prompts the same tool with the same idea, every ad looks alike. Evidence about what your category rewards is how you avoid it.

The rules still apply

This is guidance, not legal advice. Check specifics with the platforms and the ASA.

  • The UK CAP Code covers AI ads the same as any ad. An AI image cannot exaggerate what a product does. A before-and-after must show a real result, not a generated one.
  • No fake testimonials. An AI presenter can deliver a script. It must not be presented as a real customer describing a real experience.
  • Disclosure. Meta and TikTok label or require disclosure of realistic AI-generated content in some cases. Follow the current platform policy when you upload.
  • Claims need evidence. Whatever made the ad, you need proof for what it says.

AI vs traditional production

Most accounts need both. We use AI to find the message cheaply, then put real production behind the winners.

The message still decides

Of 276 long-running competitor statics we classified, feature callouts made up 24%, big claims 14% and comparisons 10%. Lifestyle imagery was 3%. AI makes it easy to produce beautiful lifestyle scenes. The market mostly does not pay for them. Browse the survivors by mechanism: feature callouts, big claims, product hero shots, offers, comparisons, UGC, before-and-afters and social proof.

Frequently asked

Do AI ads perform as well as human-made ads?

They can, when they carry a proven message. The platform does not reward how an ad was made; it rewards whether people stop, believe it and buy. An AI ad built on a weak idea loses as fast as a filmed one. Judge both on profit, not on novelty.

Can AI make UGC ads?

It can make UGC-style ads with AI presenters and lip-synced voiceover. They work best for testing scripts and hooks quickly. They must not pose as real customers giving real testimonials, and real creators still win where trust is the whole sale.

Is AI ad creative allowed on Meta and TikTok?

Yes. Both platforms accept AI-generated ads, and both label or ask advertisers to disclose realistic AI content in some cases, particularly for people, events and sensitive topics. Normal ad policies and the UK CAP Code still apply to what the ad claims.

What is the best AI ad generator?

The tool matters less than the brief. Image models, video models, AI presenter tools and voice tools all improve every few months. What does not change is knowing which message to make, and that comes from evidence about what your market already rewards.

Will AI ad creative replace creative agencies?

It replaces a lot of production time. It does not replace deciding what to say, checking that claims are true, or reading results on profit. That is where an agency earns its fee now.

How do you stop AI ads looking like AI?

Use real product photography as the reference, keep scenes simple, avoid on-screen text and close-up hands in generated frames, add natural imperfection to lighting and camera, and review every frame before it ships.
